Gannet and Guga is an independent Gourmet Sandwich bar, set up by two local guys, who wanted to bring something a wee bit special to Edinburgh’s lunchtime. We’re all about combining care and imagination, with fresh quality ingredients to offer truly delicious food, on the go.
We’ve taken inspiration from all around to bring you a great range of interesting and continually changing hot and cold options, including: Vietnamese street food items, luxurious takes on classic sandwich fillings, genuine french breads, rich and intense soups, stews and pulled meats, our own condiments sauces and pickles, and of course home made cakes and treats with great single origin coffee.
We try to take an ethical approach in everything we do. We only use free range chicken and outdoor reared Beef and Pork. All our packaging is made from recycled vegetation and is therefore completely compostable. All the waste we produce is also recycled by a local company and, as far as possible, we favor local suppliers. We have adopted a low energy cooking method and we only use energy efficient equipment. We even operate a paperless receipt system to help minimise our environmental impact.
We like to have a bit of banter with the customers, so we decided to write bad jokes and silly nonsense on our sandwich board. For better or worse it seems to have become a part of our identity. Basically what it means is that if you come and see us you can expect a super friendly atmosphere, a killer sandwich….and maybe a tumble weed!
